Hernia is a common healthcare problem, and techniques for different types of hernia repair have been evolving since times immemorial.
Bendix Ebbell’s study of the Ebers medical papyrus dating back to 3,000-2,500 BC suggested that the ancient Egyptians had attained a high level of surgical skill, and had developed procedures for hernia and aneurysm management.
The surgical options of different types of hernia repair have undergone a sea change over the last 2 decades, and more so over the last few years. The Department of Surgery, at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh is, therefore, organizing a 2 days conference from August 7-8, 2026 under the aegis of Indian Hernia Society.
Distinguished faculty having expertise in hernia repair will deliberate on the various treatment options including the latest advancements in hernia repair. Eminent national faculty will also be operating on types of hernia during the workshop using both conventional as well as latest techniques of repair.
We are very hopeful that the riveting, brain storming sessions and operative workshop during the IHSCON shall not only provide a platform for exchange of ideas, but also promote camaraderie amongst the participants, which shall greatly benefit all the stake holders involved in the treatment of hernias, especially, the young budding surgeons as well as post graduate students of surgery.
With warm regards and good wishes.
